Throwback Thursday: the 5 best gigs of last festival season

The leaves are falling and it’s getting colder by the day. Unfortunately, this means that the festival season has already been over for some time..

To return in our minds to those lovely warm summer nights we throwback to the 5 most beautiful, best or craziest festival performances of last summer!

What are your favourite gigs?

5. Stromae at Lowlands

Stromae, currently more popular than ever after releasing his most recent album 'Multitude'. His music is just infectious to say the least and that could be heard during his Lowlands show!

Next year Paul van Haver, as his real name is, will start his newest tour in which he will visit the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and Paleis 12 in Brussel. Did you manage to get a ticket for one of these sold-out concerts?

4. Arctic Monkeys at Pukkelpop

On August 21, the Arctic Monkeys paid a visit to Hasselt in Belgium and did exactly what they came for; delivering a world performance as the super Brits always do! It was a mind blowing show with a nice variety within their extensive repertoire. A repertoire that was expanded last month with another 10 new songs from their album 'Car'!

3. Pearl Jam at Rock Werchter

A sad, but special show at Rock Werchter by Pearl Jam. At the time it was exactly 22 years ago that 9 people died during their gig at Roskilde. A difficult performance as a band, but a performance executed to perfection with a beautiful setlist.

A show to remember!

2. Justin Bieber at Sziget

While it certainly wasn't Justin's best performance, we've still reserved a special spot on our list for the young superstar.

Shortly after his Sziget show, Bieber announced that he would temporarily distance himself from his live shows due to health problems.

Sad news for his immense following, but a nice memory for those who could sing along world hits like 'Baby', 'Stay' and 'Sorry' one last time!

1. De Staat at Pinkpop

This Dutch rock band from Nijmegen got everyone with them during their performance at Pinkpop. Singing together, dancing together, nothing is too crazy when you are at a show of De Staat!

During their gig, De Staat shared some songs from their newest project: Red, Yellow, Blue; an experiment with which the band wants to raise a middle finger to the concept of genres. This, in combination with their golden hits like 'Witch Doctor', made De Staat's performance a real treat!
